Where Divinity Meets Serenity

Welcome to Vanadurga Parvathi Temple

The Shree Kshetra Vanadurga Parvathi Temple is located in Malligemettlu, a village about 10 km from Harohalli, which is on the Bangalore-Kanakapura highway. Goddess Vanadurga Parvathi resides here. Our ancestors have been worshipping and practicing rituals with the divine idols of Shiva and Parvathi for many years, approximately 150 years.

While specific historical records about the temple's origins are limited, local traditions and oral histories suggest that the temple has been a significant place of worship for many centuries. It is believed that the temple was established by ancient sages who recognized the spiritual energy of the location and consecrated it to Goddess Vanadurga. Over the years, the temple has undergone various renovations to preserve its structure and accommodate the growing number of devotees. Despite these changes, it has retained its traditional architectural style, featuring intricate carvings and designs characteristic of South Indian temple architecture.

Unique Features Of The Temple

  • A distinctive feature of the temple is that the same idol is worshipped in two different forms: Parvathi in the morning and Vanadurga in the evening.
  • This unique practice symbolizes the divine transformation of the Goddess, embodying both the nurturing and fierce aspects of Devi.
  • The temple was established based on repeated divine visions experienced by the founder.

The presence of Goddess Vanadurga Parvathi was confirmed through Ashtamangala Prashne, a sacred inquiry, making the temple a spiritually significant place. Over time, the temple’s rituals had declined, leading to divine visions experienced by the temple's founder. With guidance from Guru Shri Shashidharan Namboodiri and after performing the sacred Ashtamangala Prashne, it was confirmed that the Goddess resided in their home. Following his advice, the temple was built, and the founder pursued advanced studies in Tantra Shastra.

  • Unlike many temples where locations are chosen by human decision, the Goddess herself indicated the site at Malligemettlu, an ancestral plantation, making it a divinely chosen spiritual center.
  • The consecration of the deity was performed under precise astrological timings, further enhancing the temple’s sanctity.
  • The deity was consecrated on April 12, 2015, during Vikrama Samvatsara, Krishna Paksha Ashtami Tithi, at the Abhijit Muhurta.

The Goddess indicated her wish to reside in the family’s ancestral plantation at Malligemettlu, where the temple was constructed. During the rituals, the Vanadurga Mantra was spontaneously chanted by Guru Shri Shashidharan Namboodiri, confirming the divine presence of both Vanadurga and Parvathi in the idol. Shri Kshetra Vanadurga Parvathi Temple is not just a place of worship but a sacred powerhouse of divine energy, deeply rooted in ancient spiritual traditions.

  • The temple is renowned for the Muttarukkal offering, a unique ritual where obstacles in life are symbolically broken by cracking a coconut in front of the deity.
  • If the coconut breaks evenly, it signifies the removal of hardships; otherwise, the ritual is repeated until a smooth break occurs.
  • The ritual is conducted daily, ensuring devotees can seek solutions for health, financial, and personal obstacles.

Muttarukkal is an important ritual at the temple, aimed at removing obstacles in devotees’ lives. The term "Muttu" means “obstacle” and "Arukkal" means “to cut,” symbolizing the elimination of hardships such as illness, financial struggles, or negative influences. The ritual involves breaking a dehusked coconut in front of the deity. If it breaks evenly, the obstacle is believed to be removed. If not, the process is repeated with another coconut. Devotees must stand before the sanctum with a pure heart, seeking blessings from Twaritha Devi, known for hastening divine blessings.

  • The temple’s rituals are performed under the guidance of esteemed Tantra Shastra scholars, ensuring adherence to traditional spiritual practices.
  • The temple serves as a center for the study and practice of Tantra Shastra, maintaining its authenticity and spiritual discipline.
  • The Goddess at this temple is believed to be Twaritha Devi, known for her ability to hasten blessings and remove delays in devotees' lives.

The temple plays a crucial role in preserving and practicing Tantra Shastra, an ancient spiritual science. Under the guidance of respected Gurus, the temple continues to follow authentic Vedic and Tantric rituals, ensuring the sanctity of the worship. The presence of Twaritha Devi, who hastens blessings, makes this temple especially significant for those seeking immediate divine intervention in urgent matters.
